Former head of Dagestan, Ramazan Abdulatipov, described his successor, Vladimir Vasiliev, as one of the best possible candidates.
"Among all possible candidates for this post, Vasiliev is one of the best. I know him for more than 20 years, he's a worthy successor," he said.
