A Former Deputy Defense Minister of Tajikistan, Abdulkhalim Nazarzoda, and a terrorist group controlled by him are surrounded in the Ramit Gorge, an ultimatum to lay down their weapons and surrender has been announced to them. Currently, additional Interior Ministry special forces units are arriving at the gorge.
According to the head of the press service of the Tajik Interior Ministry Dzhalolidin Sadriddinov, over the past day the group has conducted two terrorist attacks by attacking the police department building in Vahdat and the central office of the Ministry of Defense. "Eight police officers were killed. Nine terrorists were liquidated, six detained and Nazarzoda, together with his supporters whose number is unknown, disappeared," TASS quoted Sadriddinov as saying.
A spokesman for the Ministry also added that the night was calm in Tajikistan, as the security forces took the situation under control. Additional checkpoints were created at the entrance to Dushanbe.
