About 60% of electorate voted in Iranian elections

At the elections to the parliament (Majlis) and the Assembly of Experts of Iran, held yesterday, about 58% of voters voted, or 32 million people.

According to the representative of the Iranian Ministry of Internal Affairs, a more accurate figure will be announced in the course of the day, but it will not be very different from the preliminary data.

Because of the high activity of voters, the voting period was extended five times. Polling stations were closed five hours later than planned. About 55 million Iranians were eligible to take part in the elections.
