The director of the Baku Gymnastic School, an international judge for trampoline and tumbling, Adil Guseynzade, told Vestnik Kavkaza that Azerbaijan has always loved gymnastics, and since the formation of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, headed by the First Lady of the Republic, the head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, this love has only intensified.
"At one time we had a period of stagnation, when many coaches left the country, but under the new Federation headed by Mehriban Aliyeva gymnastics in Azerbaijan got great development. Today, we have the leaders in rhythmic gymnastics and acrobatic gymnastics – Marina Durunda and Oleg Stepko," Guseynzade said.
According to him, the First European Games in Baku will give a new impetus to the development of gymnastics in the country.
The honored coach of Azerbaijan said that the Baku Gymnastics School has received great support from the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation. "We probably would have had many difficulties without its support. And now we do not have any problems, all our requests have been met," he noted.
