Aeroflot plane evacuated in Geneva after false bomb threat

An Aeroflot passenger plane was evacuated at Geneva airport on Thursday and a Russian man was arrested after saying there was a bomb on board, the prosecutor’s office in the city said.

The man, who the Russian consul in Switzerland identified as an Indian national, had a criminal case opened against him, the spokesman added.

"The man who made the threat was arrested and later admitted making a false bomb threat, saying he had been joking," the prosecution’s spokesman said.

Flight 2381 from Geneva to Moscow was due to take off at 12:35 local time when the threat was made. Aeroflot said passengers booked on its flight 2381 to Moscow would be transferred to other aircraft.
