Airbus asks Western countries not to abandon Russian titanium

A ban on the import of Russian titanium will harm Western countries and the aviation industry. This was announced at the annual meeting of Airbus shareholders by its executive director Guillaume Faury.

"We don't think sanctions on imports [from Russia] would be appropriate", he said.

According to Faury, the abandonment of Russian titanium will have big consequences for other countries and the aviation industry, while the impact on the Russian Federation itself will be small, Reuters reports.

Airbus buys 60% of the titanium used in aircraft construction from Russia. At the end of March, it became known that the company began looking for titanium alternative sources for its production in the event of a cessation of Russian supplies.
