Alan Coldwell: there's high level of fans' safety in Baku

Azerbaijan welcomes football fans extremely friendly, English fan from the 2022 FIFA World Cup Local Organizing Committee Alan Coldwell, who arrived in Baku from Qatar for the UEFA Europa League final match between the English clubs Arsenal and Chelsea, said today, speaking with Vestnik Kavkaza.

"We arrived from Qatar last night, and we all like it here, the reception of the fans is excellent and nicely organised. We are actually members of the Qatar World Cup organizing team. As a specialist, I can say that the stadium in Baku is good and beautiful, I like the fan zone,” he said in the first place.

"There's high level of security here. So far, everyone we met was very friendly. Yesterday we were at the bar - and there were fans of both teams having fun and dancing together, everything was peaceful. It is unlikely that more than 1% of the fans are aggressive, so there will be no problems," the fan expressed confidence, refuting the British Foreign Office's statements and Arsenal's midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan's fears.

He also replied to Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, who unhappy with hosting the Europa League final by Azerbaijan, that Chelsea and Arsenal fans do not only live in the UK, and their opinions should also be taken into account. “Chelsea and Arsenal fans have come here not only from England - someone, like us, came from Qatar, someone from Israel, from France and other countries. Therefore, this final is not just about England,” Alan Coldwell concluded.

The UEFA Europa League final match between the English clubs Arsenal and Chelsea will take place today at the Baku Olympic Stadium. The match will start at 23:00 (GMT+4).
