The Permanent Representative of Russia to NATO, Alexander Grushko, pointed out the contradiction of the actions of the Turkish army, which destroyed a Russian bomber, with the recommendations of the North Atlantic Alliance.
"It is obvious that Turkey, by contacting NATO, was seeking political support, and this political support was indeed given, because the alliance, guided by considerations of Atlantic solidarity, falsely understood and did not deal with it objectively. Objectively, the situation is clear to everybody, it is a flagrant violation of international law, not only contrary to the fundamental articles of the Charter of the United Nations and a large number of conventions, but also the recommendations of NATO itself," he said.
