Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev announced the possibility of collaborating with the US on the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor project.
"Last year, at the Eastern Economic Forum, the President clearly stated that Russia and the US could work together in the Arctic region. I cannot rule out that the development of the economic potential of the entire Arctic region will allow us to discuss the closure of the TTC into a large transport ring",
Alexey Likhachev stated.
According to Likhachev, such cooperation is a political decision. He added that Russia is making a key contribution to Arctic development, Strana Rosatom reports.
Likhachev also addressed the debates over Greenland's status that have intensified following recent statements by Donald Trump. The Rosatom CEO noted that interest in the island is driven by economic considerations, which will become more pressing as the ice melts in the coming decades.
