Construction work on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project in Armenia will begin in late 2026 or early 2027, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the meeting of the Azerbaijani-Uzbek Supreme Interstate Council in Tashkent, which was attended by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
"For your information, I would like to say that work is also underway in Armenia, and our American partners regularly inform us about this. As far as we have been told, construction will begin in Armenia either at the end of this year or early next year," Ilham Aliyev said.
According to him, the project will be completed in the main part of Azerbaijan next year, work has also begun in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Its length there is only 42 km, while in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic it is 194 km, he noted.
The conceptual approach is to consider the Nakhchivan Railway as part of the Azerbaijan Railways, there are plans to set up an international consortium, the head of state said.
Ilham Aliyev also said that Azerbaijan is also building from scratch and refurbishing a section of the existing railway from Baku to the Armenian border at a stretch of approximately 400 km, which will become a major extension of the Middle Corridor.
