Almaty region hit by 4.8-point earthquake

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 occurred in the Almaty region, the Seismological Experimental and Methodological Expedition of the Science Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science said.

The tremor occurred at 08:17 local time (05:17 Moscow time).

The epicenter was located 184 km east of Almaty at a depth of 20 kilometers, Kazinform reports.
