Russian prosecutors have searched offices of almost 1000 companies in the Russian republic of Dagestan following the discovery of many unfounded gas bills for households and opened eight criminal cases, Prosecutor of the republic Denis Popov said at a meeting of the authority.
The prosecutors started a criminal case after a check of gas consumption by hothouses.
Popov said that the checks revealed "criminal schemes of large scale embezzlement of gas and money" paid by gas consumers, Prime agency reported.
