Azerbaijani Railways (ADY) in collaboration with other transportation agencies are the initiators and participants of a number of major international projects, the ADY chairman Javid Gurbanov said.
"Currently, work is under way to create an alternative route within the East-West railway corridor. The negotiations are underway to create a new route to enable to transport cargo from China’s southern regions to Europe through Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and then Azerbaijan," abc.az cited Gurbanov as saying.
The alternative route will make it possible to develop the transit potential of Azerbaijan more widely, the department noted.
