Tehran is ready to act as a platform for negotiations between Baku and Yerevan, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said at a meeting with Assistant to the First Vice President of Azerbaijan Elchin Amirbekov.
"Iran is ready to help its northern neighbours, that is, Azerbaijan and Armenia, to achieve lasting peace within the framework of bilateral and trilateral meetings and the regional initiative "3+3" in Tehran", Interfax-Azerbaijan quoted him.
The meeting participants also discussed the recent developments in the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations, the situation in the Caucasus and "Iran's principled position on issues related to the region".
The Iranian diplomat confirmed Tehran's position on the immutability of internationally recognized borders.
"There shouldn't be any geopolitical changes inconsistent with Iran's vital and long-term interests in the region", he added.
