The talks between Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which were held yesterday, set an example of the correct political and diplomatic work of the two neighboring states, which managed to overcome the crisis in relations, the deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Andrei Klimov said, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza on the sidelines of the presentation of the report by the Federation Council's temporary commission to protect state sovereignty and prevent foreign interference into Russia's internal affairs.
First of all, he stressed that Russia and Turkey have completed the stage of restoring contacts in all spheres. "We see that the Russian-Turkish relations have passed through a crisis stage and the relations between our two neighboring states have been fully restored. We have a number of very serious projects, and these are strategic projects that concern not only Russia and Turkey," Andrei Klimov noted, mentioning the Turkish Stream and Akkuyu NPP among such projects.
Russia and Turkey today are united not by only economic, but also political projects. "Among them is the restoration of peaceful life in Syria and ensuring its territorial integrity. In addition, we are cooperating in addressing a number of issues related to the fight against terrorist threats," the deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs stressed.
"I believe that the actions of our president and the actions of the Turkish side led to the fact that all the controversial acute issues were resolved politically and diplomatically, and it set a very positive example for other countries," Andrei Klimov concluded.
