A hippopotamus, elephants, llamas, deer, peacocks, zebras, goats, horses, ponies, a jackal, a pair of wolves, several lions, leopards, rhinoceros and a pair of penguins from the Tbilisi zoo have survived in today's flood. As noted by the press secretary of the zoo, Mzia Sharashidze, mostly those animals who lived in cages on the hill survived.
According to LifeNews, a crocodile has been returned to the zoo. Some lions drowned or were shot, one wolf was euthanized.
Moscow Zoo stated that it is ready to transfer some of its animals to Tbilisi Zoo and also to accommodate the Georgian animals in its own cages until the effects of the disaster are eliminated.
