Ankara calls for sanctions against Israel

Türkiye is calling on Western countries to go beyond recognizing Palestine and to impose sanctions against Israel, believing this will help resolve the regional situation, Ismail Karayel, head of the Türkiye-EU Interparliamentary Commission, stated.

"We hope that, along with decisions to recognize Palestine, the UK and the EU will begin imposing sanctions and a number of other measures against Israel",

Ismail Karayel stated

According to Karayel, Western countries recognized Palestine due to widespread public protests. He noted this step could contribute to normalization, RIA Novosti reports.

The UK has pledged to impose sanctions against Hamas following London's recognition of Palestine.
