Armenia asks U.S. for strategic partnership

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sent a congratulatory message to U.S. President Joe Biden on the occasion of Independence Day.

"On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and myself, I warmly congratulate you and the people of the United States of America on Independence Day. The universal values ​​of freedom, justice, and democracy that founded the United States of America, as well as the ideals reflected in the Declaration of Independence, continue to be a source of inspiration and encouragement around the world. The multi-layered and close ties between Armenia and the United States, the significant growth and development of cooperation in recent years, the inclusion of new areas in the bilateral agenda emphasize the strength of our partnership based on democratic principles, the rule of law and the protection of human rights," Nikol Pashinyan said.

The Armenian PM noted that Armenian is commited to further expansion of cooperation, which was reflected in the vision of raising the strategic dialogue between Armenia and the U.S. to the level of strategic partnership.

"Armenia greatly values the role of the U.S. in the peace-building process in our region and deeply appreciates the U.S. support for the sovereignty, independence, democracy, territorial integrity and inviolability of the borders of the Republic of Armenia in accordance with the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration...I would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm Armenia's commitment to the peace agenda and express confidence that our continued and strengthening partnership at this critical time will contribute to building a peaceful and more prosperous future for our two countries and the region," Nikol Pashinyan said.

President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan also sent a congratulatory message to the U.S. President.

He noted that the U.S. is one of Armenia's most important partners and that the countries will develop the multi-layered relations.

"Armenian-American cooperation is greatly supported by our compatriots living in the U.S., who have a significant contribution in strengthening the friendship between the two peoples,” Vahagn Khachaturyan said.

In addition, the Armenian president appreciated the U.S. support and efforts, aimed both at maintaining peace and stability in the South Caucasus, and at implementing democratic and economic reforms in Armenia.
