Armenia bans supplies of Georgian meat because of anthrax

Armenia's Ministry of Agriculture has banned imports of meat of bovine animals through border checkpoints on the border with Georgia.

"The Service has banned the import of cattle meat to Armenia for personal use through the border checkpoints of Bagratashen, Bavra and Gogovani (on the border with Georgia) from August 5 to 19," an official statement of the Ministry reads.

Such security measures were introduced to prevent the trafficking of meat infected with anthrax to the territory of Armenia.
