Armenia eases travel rules for Russian nationals

Russian nationals will shortly be able to travel to Armenia with domestic passports, Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said on Thursday as he received a Russian parliamentary delegation, TASS reports.

"The decision will be passed shortly, under which Russian nationals will be able to travel to Armenia with their domestic passports," Karapetyan said, noting that this will advance tourism.

The prime minister and members of the delegation led by Federation Council upper house’s parliamentarian Nikolai Ryzhkov, marked the importance of an agreement for the development of cooperation between two countries’ regions, the government press service said.

The Armenian prime minister gave high marks to allied relations of Armenia and Russia. "Our countries have big potentials for developing and deepening cooperation on all directions, including on inter-parliamentary, inter-governmental and inter-regional platforms," he said.

The prime minister believes the countries have potentials for making their relations exemplary. "Russia is interested in developing relations with fraternal Armenia" Ryzhkov said, for his part.
