According to him, in 25 years the birthrate in Armenia has almost halved: 80,022 children were born in the country in 1990, while in 2014 only 43,061 children were born (the lowest level was reached in 2001 – 33,422 children).

Muradyan pointed out that at the same time there is a trend towards increased mortality: in 1999 there were 21,993 deaths, while in 2014 there were 27,714 deaths. At the same time, Armenia is among the aging countries: a state is classified this way when the number of people older than 65 years is 7% of the population, and in Armenia this figure is 11%.

Other demographic statistics is also announced. So, the UN report 'Prospects for the world's population,’  noted that by 2100 the population of Armenia will be less than 1.8 million people, while the current dynamics is maintaining. The authors of the report  base on the official data, according to which 3,018,000 people are living now in Armenia.

On the basis of these, the forecast for the number of citizens of the republic in 2030 is 2.993 million people in 2050 is 2.729 million people and 1.793 million people in 2100. These figures do not take into account the birth / death rate in Armenia stemming from the estimates of rates of emigration, which constituents today about 30-35 thousand people a year.
