Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian said that early parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on June 20.
"At the meeting, we stated that the best way out of the current internal political situation is early parliamentary elections," he wrote on his Facebook page.
"Taking into account also my discussions with the President of Armenia, the My Step faction, the head of the Bright Armenia Party Edmond Marukyan, early parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia on June 20 of this year," the prime minister added.
A coalition of opposition parties has been holding anti-government demonstrations in Yerevan and other parts of the country in a bid to force Pashinian to hand over power to an interim government. Pashinian, whose My Step faction dominates parliament, has refused to step down but had hinted at accepting early parliamentary elections under certain conditions.
