Armenia to withdraw its armed forces from Khankendi by September

Secretary of the Armenian Security Council Armen Grigoryan said that conscripts from Armenia will no longer be deployed to Karabakh for military service.

"After the establishment of the ceasefire and the deployment of the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation the withdrawal of the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia from Karabakh is logical. They are returning to the Republic of Armenia. This process is nearing completion and will end in September," Armenpress cited him as saying.

At the same time, he noted that the Armenian separatists in Khankendi will not be disarmed and will continue threating destabilization in the zone of temporary deployment of Russian peacekeepers.

Last Friday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that according to the existing agreement, the remnants of the Armenian troops were to leave Khankendi by early July, but this did not happen by mid-July. In this regard, the Azerbaijani leader called on Yerevan to declare whether the Armenian military will leave voluntarily or not.
