Armenian Ministry of Defense hires U.S. Army representative

U.S. Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya said a U.S. Army representative is set to work within the Armenian Defence Ministry. 

According to her, this marks the beginning of a new strategic phase in Yerevan-Washington bilateral relations.

"We welcome the deepening of ties in the defence, civilian, and security sectors," Zeya said.

Earlier, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Christine Quinn mentioned that the U.S. and Armenia are engaged in active discussions on security and defence matters. In additionm the diplomat noted that the U.S. plans to appoint an advisor to the Armenian Defence Ministry.
