Armenian President opens Candidates Chess Tournament in Moscow

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan made a symbolic first move before the start of the Candidates Chess Tournament of the World Chess Championship, which opens today at the Central Telegraph building in Moscow.

The line-up consists of Levon Aronian (Armenia), the World Championship 2014 finalist Vishtavan Anand (India), 2015 World Cup winner Sergey Karjakin, 2015 World Cup runner-up Peter Svidler (both Russia), 2014-15 FIDE Grand Prix winners Fabiano Caruana and Hikaru Nakamura (both USA), and two players qualified by rating Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria) and Anish Giri (Netherlands), TASS reports.

The tournament will end on March 29.
