Armenia's Parliament passed amendments today to the law on identification cards and the law on the citizen’s passport.
Armenian Deputy Police Chief Hovhannes Kocharyan said that the amendments propose to prolong the term of introduction of ID cards to 2021.
Earlier, it was planned to complete the transition in 2019. This means that domestic passports are in force until completion of the transition to ID cards, ARKA reported.
Although the process of introduction of ID cards began in 2008, he said, some 300,000 citizens have not received them so far.
