‘‘The attitude of the fans in Baku was a very warm, vivid crowd, a such reaction is a rarity,’’ Artem Surkov, champion in Greco-Roman wrestling in the category up to 66 kg, told Vestnik Kavkaza.
"Frankly speaking, I have rarely been in such a situation, today was the first time. The Azerbaijani onlookers were very active. In general, the onlookers were very noisy today," the athlete shared his impressions.
The wrestler also praised the organizational preparations for the Baku 2015 European Games.
"I am very pleased with the organization. Everything is well-designed and comfortable. I am very pleased with the Olympic Village, where we live, as well as the venues for the competitions," Surkov said.
The athlete defeated wrestler Mihran Harutyunyan from the Armenian national team in the final match with a score of 3-0.
