Armenia regularly tries to aggravate the situation in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on those days when the most important meeting on a peaceful settlement of the problem are taking place, the Deputy Director General of the Information Agency ‘Trend’, political commentator Arzu Nagiyev said in an interview to a correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, commenting on the connection between last night's provocation by the Armenian military forces and the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Washington.
"Usually, when there are such talks between the presidents at the international level, we expect a worsening on the frontline. The fact is that among the other things there is a struggle for influence in the region. Who decides the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, who will be the most important in this issue? After the statements of Joe Biden or John Kerry, that the conflict should be resolved within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, Yerevan usually aggravates the situation - and not only Yerevan, but also the forces that stand behind it," the expert explained.
"The scenario is always the same, because the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and his entourage are not willing to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the form in which the international community intends to implement it.’’ Whenever the superpowers talk about the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and the mandatory implementation of the four UN resolutions, this scenario is used, that is, the provocation was expected. That is why they opened fire immediately on all fronts and at the border areas, and then switched to heavy equipment. Azerbaijan was forced to completely eliminate all the firing points, then the aggravation of the situation began,’’ Arzu Nagiyev concluded.
Recall that on the night of April 2nd all the border positions of Azerbaijan were shelled from large-caliber weapons, mortars, rocket-propelled grenades and guns. In addition, a number of shots were fired at settlements near the frontline, densely populated by civilians.
The territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is recognized by all leading countries, in particular, by its strategic partner, the Russian Federation, which has done more than the other allies for a fair resolution of this complex issue. And today was no exception, as evidenced by the phone calls and petitions addressed to the leadership of the two countries by Vladimir Putin, Sergei Lavrov and Sergei Shoigu.
Precisely this principled position of Azerbaijan, supported by the leadership of the Russian Federation, clearly stated the need to restore the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, can be a basic foundation of a quick resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
