The actions of the Russian side in the fight against the terrorist group Daesh are much more effective than the steps of the Western coalition in this direction, the Syrian President Bashar Assad stated.
"A year or so has passed since the start of the operation of the coalition, and what is the result? IS, Jabhat al-Nusra, and other like-minded groups 'have grown', 'grown' freely. And what was the situation after the Russians entered into a direct fight against terrorism? Daesh and Jabhat al-Nusra began to 'shrink'," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
Assad also stated that Britain and France, by starting air operations in Syria without the consent of the country's leadership, are acting illegally.
