Saudi Arabia and other US allies should not buy Russian military equipment, including S-400 air defense systems, as such purchases can be punishable by sanctions, Assistant US Secretary of State for Near East Affairs nominee David Schenker said during a confirmation hearing, Sputnik reports.
"I would work with our allies to dissuade them or encourage them to avoid [Russian] military purchases that could be potentially sanctionable," Schenker said. "In other words, I would tell Saudi Arabia not to do it."
