Spanish racing cyclist, currently riding for Astana Pro Team, Omar Fraile and his girlfriend were involved in a car accident on Sunday, driving back from a criterium in Madrid, according to the statement posted on Astana Pro Team Twitter page.
They both have non-life threatening injuries, with Omar having back pains and a fissured rib. His girlfriend will have surgery due to six broken ribs and a broken vertebrae.
Omar Fraile (born in 1990) is a winner of stages in the Tour de France & Giro d'Italia, and has twice won the Mountains classification in the Vuelta a España.
