Astrakhan to host 5th Caspian Media Forum

Astrakhan will host the 5th Caspian Media Forum on September 24-25, which is a unique site for exchanging experience, discussing new directions for the development of regional and international journalism, creating a single information field for the Caspian states.

Within the forum's framework, Astrakhan will host media representatives, political scientists, experts and analysts from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. In total, it will be attended by more than 200 delegates.

Panel discussions, expert meetings and strategic sessions will take place this year at various venues during the two days of forum. The main events are the 'Media Trends in the Digital Age' plenary discussion, the 'Media Communications as an Instrument of Public Diplomacy' panel discussion and the 'Caspian Convention: a year later' expert session.

Among the guests of the forum are Governor of the Astrakhan Region Igor Babushkin, Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Support Fund Roman Grishenin, General Director of the Govorit Moskva radio station Vladimir Mamontov, Deputy Dean of the Higher School of Economics Faculty of Communications, Media, and Design Dmitry Shelukhin, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Svetlana Smirnova, Head of the Global Media Holding Elnur Abdullaev, creator of the project Assol Mirmanova, UNEC Foundation PR and media technology expert Ellada Aliyeva, head of the representative office of the Russia Today international news agency in Kazakhstan Viktor Panov, general manager of the Pobeda TV channel Daria Khubova, director of the Baku Network expert council Elkhan Aleskerov, head of the Caspian expert club, journalist and political scientist Gulnara Mammadzade, editor-in-chief of the news agency Vladimir Berezovsky, chief editor of the Moscow State University’s information and analytical center Nova Zhanar Tulindinova, director of the Public Foundation 'World of Eurasia' Eduard Poletayev, chief editor of 'First Channel. In addition, representatives of state authorities of the region, rectors of Astrakhan universities, heads of national societies, business structures and consuls of the Caspian basin countries will participate in the 5th Caspian Media Forum: the Consul of Kazakhstan in Astrakhan Kanat Shekkaliev, Consul of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan Atadurdy Bayramov, Iran's acting General Consul in Astrakhan Mohtari Behruz, Chairman of the Azerbaijan National Society 'Azerbaijan' Vahid Rahimov, Chairman of the Society of Uzbek Folk Culture 'Uzbekistan' Bakhodir Aminov, deputy chairman of the Astrakhan regional public organization of the Kazakh culture 'Zholdastyk' Rakhmet Bashbaev, chairman of the local German national-cultural autonomy 'Unity' Irina Selezneva, and many others.

The 5th Caspian Media Forum was organised by the Center for International Public Policy Studies 'Caspian-Eurasia with information support from the Astrakhan region  government. Partners of the event are the North-South Political Science Center and the Center of Analytical Studies 'Eurasian Monitoring'. The project is also being implemented with the support of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund.
