Former Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said in an interview with NEWSru.co.il that the Armenian side has provoked the latest escalation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, News.az reports.
"I am closely watching the developments in the region and am convinced that everything started with the provocation from the opposite party," he said.
According to Lieberman, "Baku representatives showed a balanced and responsible approach at the negotiations attended by the representatives of Russia and the United States." In addition, it was the most inappropriate moment for the conflict for Azerbaijan, as the economic situation in Azerbaijan is not easy due to the drop in oil prices.
Lieberman also pointed out that the escalation in the conflict erupted when the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was in the United States, but decisions to start military operations are not made when the head of state is abroad.
