The Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company has opened a subsidiary Caspian Marine Service, which is headed by Zamig Ismayilov, in Astrakhan.
"We have opened a full-fledged company, it is registered in Astrakhan. We will consider opportunities of both transit traffic between the ports and the participation of our company in projects of LUKOIL in the north of the Caspian Sea," the head of the company, Rauf Veliyev, said during a meeting with the Governor of the Astrakhan Region, Alexander Zhilkin.
The Governor of the Astrakhan Region wished success to the new subsidiary and added that there are a number of sites, which may be of interest to Azerbaijani business, in Astrakhan.
"In particular, it is free economic zone 'Lotus', aimed at the market of the Caspian region and providing benefits for residents," abc.az cited Zhilkin as saying.
Veliyev pointed out that some of the vessels of the shipping company are located in Astrakhan and they will need services for on-site repair.
Alexander Zhilkin and Rauf Veliyev also discussed plans on the ferry traffic through the Olya port.
