Azerbaijan and Iran begin Zangezur corridor construction bypassing Armenia

The foundation of the Agbend automobile bridge has been laid on the Azerbaijani-Iranian border.

Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Rostam Ghasemi took part in the ceremony via videoconference.

The bridge will connect the Horadiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghbend highway, which is 112 kilometers long, with the Iranian highway network across the Araz River. The construction length will be 216 m, and its width will be 24.5 m. It is also planned to build a checkpoint on the territory of the two countries. 1,000 trucks could cross it daily (500 at the entrance and 500 at the exit).
