Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan agree on military cooperation

Today Astana hosted a meeting of the Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Zakir Hasanov, and the Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan, Imangali Tasmagambetov, at which the parties signed a cooperation plan for the next year.

During the meeting, the head of the Kazakh Defense Ministry stressed that at the current stage the focus should be on establishing practical ties between the naval forces of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

According to him, this will contribute to the strengthening of security in the Caspian region, and it corresponds to the agreements that were reached by the heads of the Caspian littoral states at high-level meetings.

In his turn, the head of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan, Zakir Hasanov, noted the readiness to conduct joint exercises, adding that Azerbaijan already has experience of joint exercises with Kazakhstan. "Such activities promote mutual enrichment of military experience," Trend quoted him as saying.

Also, Imangali Tasmagambetov invited Zakir Hasanov to visit the international exhibition of arms and military equipment KADEKS-2016, which will be held in Astana.

At the meeting, the Ministers noted the importance of relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, focusing on the development of cooperation in the military sphere, mutual exchange of experience and training, and also addressed other issues of mutual interest.
