An event on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Azerbaijani-Pakistani diplomatic relations was held today at the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The event was attended by the leadership of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, the leadership and staff of the Pakistani embassy in Azerbaijan, as well as the delegation of the National Defense University of Pakistan visiting Baku.
After the national anthems of both countries were played, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov took the floor. He said that Pakistan became one of the first states to recognize Azerbaijan's independence. In addition to this, he said, ties are developing between the two countries in various fields, including political, economic and military ones.
He expressed gratitude for Pakistan's political support for Azerbaijan during the former Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, during the 44-day war, as well as in the post-conflict period. Elnur Mammadov expressed confidence in the further development of relations between the two friendly and fraternal countries.
Relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan have historical, religious and cultural roots, Pakistani Ambassador to Azerbaijan Bilal Haye reminded. He stressed that Pakistan constantly expresses support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of the internationally recognized Azerbaijan's borders. He added that he was sure that fruitful cooperation between the two countries in various fields would continue to develop.
An exhibition was held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. The participants of the event got acquainted with the exposition.
