Azerbaijan and Turkey to use national currency in trade

Azerbaijan and Turkey have not negotiated on using national currency in trade, but this issue may be discussed in the future, the Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev said.

Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci, in turn, said that Azerbaijani and Turkish presidents, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, gave relevant tasks to the economic bodies.
Currently, the trade turnover between the two countries makes up about $3.5 billion, and this figure must be increased to $10-15 billion. 

In the first half of 2017, Azerbaijan-Turkey business summit is planned to be held. In this summit, a relevant document will be signed. Our main policy is to use national currency in trade. There can be no question of coercion. However, we must ways to use national currency in trade,” APA cited the Turkish minister as saying.

Zeybekci added that taking into account the structure of trade turnover, full use of national currency is not an objective lying ahead
