The second day of the karate competitions has come to an end. Six sets of medals were played for in kata karate among men and women, and in kumite karate in the weight categories over 84 kg for men, as well as up to and over 68 kg for women.
According to the results, the best results among all European countries in karate were shown by representatives of the Azerbaijani national team, who won four gold medals. Today Irina Zaretsky in kumitekarate in the weight category up to 68 kg and Ayhan Mamaev in kumite karate up to 84 kg became champions.
Yesterday the Azerbaijani karatekas Firdovsi Farzaliyev (60 kg) and Rafael Agayev won gold medals. Niyazi Aliyev (67 kg) and Ilaha Gasimova (55 kg) won bronze medals.
On June 13, Turkish athletes won gold medals in kumite karate: Serap Ozdzhelik in the weight category up to 50 kg, and Burak Uighurs in the weight category up to 67 kg. Elmar Eltemur won bronze medal in the weight category up to 75 kg.
