Despite the fact that the seismological situation in Azerbaijan is becoming more and more tense, catastrophic earthquakes in Azerbaijan are not expected, the Seismological Center’s director Gurban Yetirmishli said.
"Since early 2017 the country registered 1057 tremors, but none of them was felt. In general, catastrophic quakes in Azerbaijan are not expected," abc.az cited Yetirmishli as saying.
However, the seismic activity begins to cause economic damage. As a result of the earthquake in the Caspian Sea on November 4, the staff from oil platforms on the Gunashli field was evacuated temporarily.
