Azerbaijan heads World Congress of News Agencies

Azerbaijan became the chair of the World Congress of News Agencies at a meeting of the Congress in Baku.

AzerTAc will take on a three-year presidency (2016-2019) of the Congress. Director General of the agency Aslan Aslanov was elected president of the Congress from 2019 to 2022.

TASS Director General Sergei Mikhailov said the 5th World Congress of News Agencies in Baku is an extremely important event.

"Such events are very important for our industry, we exchange experiences, discuss problems, new opportunities, new technologies," Trend cited him as saying.

TASS Director General pointed out that this event is very important for Azerbaijan, as the country has gathered a very respectable information community. He also thanked the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his hospitality.

The 5th World Congress of News Agencies opened in Baku yesterday. The director-general of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) Maxim Minchev was elected new president of the Congress.
