Azerbaijan hopes for positive reaction of Armenia on peace treaty

Baku is counting on Yerevan's positive reaction to proposals for a peace agreement, the Azerbaijani president said.

During the talks with the President of Latvia, Ilham Aliyev spoke on how the normalization of relations with Armenia was progressing.

According to him, Azerbaijan hopes that the leadership of Armenia will positively accept the amendments regarding the peace treaty's text.

Work on a peace agreement is in progress
Ilham Aliyev recalled that Baku had previously presented its own version, which was developed on the basis of the international law's norms and principles. After that, Yerevan sent its comments to the Azerbaijani side, Baku also responded to them.

Accordingly, the president stressed, "the process is underway".

Pashinyan on the post-war settlement with Azerbaijan
On March 3, the Armenian Prime Minister announced Yerevan's resolute determination to achieve peace in the South Caucasus. Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia was ready for a constructive dialogue with Azerbaijan.

According to him, Baku and Yerevan negotiate on three aspects:

  • reaching a peace agreement;
  • unblocking of all transport routes;
  • ensuring security and delimitation of the state border.
