Azerbaijan to complete its part of Zangezur corridor in 2024

The Horadiz-Jabrail-Zangilan-Agbend highway (Zangezur corridor) will be put into operation in 2024. This became known during the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the Fizuli region, where he got acquainted with the highway's construction.

The Head of state was informed that the construction of a 123.6 km highway "is proceeding at a rapid pace".

The first 77 km section will have six lanes, the remaining 46.6 km will have four lanes. Three automobile tunnels will appear on the road, the construction of one of them has already been completed, concrete work is underway in it.

In addition to this, it is planned to build 15 road bridges, five overpasses and 54 underpasses. "Currently, construction of 14 bridges, three overpasses and 38 underpasses is underway. Completion of construction is scheduled for 2024", the Azerbaijani President's website said in a statement.

The road Horadiz-Jabrail-Zangilan-Agbend is being built up to the border with Armenia, parallel to the railway line of the same name. It is part of the Hajigabul-Horadiz-Agbend-Zangezur transport corridor.
