The parliamentary Committee on legal policy and state building proposed to consider a draft law 'On the possibility of the implementation by the Republic of Azerbaijan of the decision of the interstate body for the protection of human rights and freedoms' at the plenary meeting.
According to the draft law, the Constitutional Court is given new powers in relation to the definition of the possibility of execution of decisions passed by international organizations on human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan.
The author of the draft law, MP Rafael Jabrayilov, said that it was based on the experience of a number of states.
“Unfortunately, this draft law was firstly misinterpreted by some media outlets, that Azerbaijan is avoiding the implementation of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights. It;s not true. We are only formalizing our legal options against double standards. The Constitutional Court will be empowered to consider the possibility of implementation of any decision by international organizations,” APA cited him as saying.
