The criminal military-political regime in Armenia bears full responsibility for the escalation of the tension on the state border of Azerbaijan and Armenia and the damage inflicted on the Armenian civilian population, the press service of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan said.
Several Armenian media outlets have spread baseless information about the situation on the front, the Azerbaijani armed forces were allegedly destroyed by the Armenian military and the Azerbaijani side suffered heavy losses.
The aim of such information is to justify to the Armenian community "the military failure and heavy losses on the front line and cover up the crimes committed by Armenian troops against Azerbaijani civilians in border villages," the Ministry of Defense said.
The Azerbaijani armed forces, occupying more advantageous positions, are capable of destroying any military targets of the enemy and maintaining control over the settlements as well as communication lines, the department noted.
The Defense Ministry also said that the Armenian side should know that Azerbaijani soldiers were ordered not to open fire only at civilians. Any military targets in motion will be destroyed by Azerbaijani soldiers without waiting for an order, Trend reports.
