Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke with each other on the sidelines of the Sharm el-Sheikh international peace summit in the Egyptian resort town.
During the meeting, Nikol Pashinyan approached Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for a handshake while the latter was engaged in a conversation with Ilham Aliyev.
Based on video of the encounter, Shehbaz Sharif appeared to invite the Armenian Prime Minister to join their discussion and seemed to express approval for the normalization of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations.
The details of the conversation between Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan are not known. Later, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with both Aliyev and Pashinyan.
