The smuggling of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan was prevented, the Azerbaijani State Border Service said.
As a result of the border search and operational measures conducted in the service territory of the "Lankaran" border detachment of the Border Troops of the State Border Service, drugs with total weight of 36.47 kg (34.69 kg of marijuana, 2.1 kg of opium) and 1200 Methadone pills were prevented from being smuggled from Iran to Azerbaijan.
Investigation into criminal case related to separatists is completed and will be sent to court in coming days, Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General said.
Operational and investigative measures are underway.
