The issue of the Azov Sea is used by Western countries for the purpose of propaganda, the Russian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said Thursday in light of the European Parliament calling on member states to expand anti-Russian sanctions in case of escalation in the water area, UrduPoint reported.
Earlier in the day, the European Parliament adopted a resolution, which calls on the EU member states to broaden restrictive measures against Moscow if the tensions in the Azov Sea escalate.
"The issue of the Azov Sea is another propaganda card, which is played by our Western colleagues .
.. If you look at the statements of US representatives, European representatives and now, it has reached the European Parliament - they are all identical, they are not based on any factual basis, they are an example of political propaganda," Zakharova said at a briefing.
