Iraq's President Barham Saleh and Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi held talks with Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, the press service of Iraq's president and prime minister reported, specifying that the meeting took place in the Al Salam Palace in Baghdad.
It is reported that the country's leaders expressed the need to rally regional and international efforts to ensure security and stability in the region, noting Russia's role in countering terrorism.
In addition, Saleh also expressed Iraq’s desire to expand cooperation in politics, economics and investment, RIA Novosti reported.
