Today, a number of important documents were signed during a special session "The Path to Zero Emissions: Developing the Green Energy Potential of the Liberated Territories", which is taking place in Shusha as part of the Baku Energy Week.
The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and BP signed an Addendum to the Executive Agreement on Cooperation, Trend reports. The document was signed by Head of Department Parviz Shahbazov and BP Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Gary Jones.
The Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan also signed an executive agreement with the acting executive director of Masdar Clean Energy (UAE) Fawaz Al Muharrami.
In addition, within the framework of the session, a cooperation agreement was signed between the state oil company of Azerbaijan SOCAR and BP. The agreement implies studying the potential of renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan, cooperation and the implementation of joint projects. The document was signed by SOCAR Acting President Rovshan Najaf and Gary Jones.
In addition, Rovshan Najaf and Fawaz Al Muharrami signed a memorandum of understanding between SOCAR and Masdar, within the framework of which it is planned to cooperate in the field of renewable energy sources.
These agreements aim to decarbonise oil and gas operations, use advanced energy-efficient technologies, and the joint development of renewable energy sources.
On the sidelines of the session, Parviz Shahbazov told reporters that on behalf of the President of Azerbaijan, the concept of a green energy zone in Karabakh in East Zangezur has already been developed and is being implemented.
